UPDATE: Lo and behold, my theory was absolutely spot on (read the original review below, if you’re at all curious). I purchased this Pocket Racer as a used item form Amazon “In Good Condition: Item Arrives In Package, Package May Be Damaged”... the whole car arrived completely destroyed (see photos). The problem with online sellers like Amazon is that there absolutely zero quality control, especially from the Amazon Warehouse - they solely rely on resolution and arbitration after the costumer receives a garbage item. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT FROM A BRICK AND MORTAR STORE, hence my5 star review. Whatever you do, don’t buy it from Amazon. For the last few years, I have noticed many Amazon products get bad ratings, whereas the same items purchased at a brick and mortar store work just fine. I have a working theory that Amazon buys bulk b-stock items at a discount and sells them at normal price. This mini RC car is a perfect example. I bought my pocket racer from a Babies R Us store closing sale for $5.99. This pocket racer is AWESOME. I’ve already gone through about 5 charging cycles (the car charges from 2 AAAs from the controller) - it takes about 10 minutes to charge and I get about 5 minutes of drive time before it goes back on the charger. To test my theory, I ordered the blue pocket racer. It arrives in two days, and I will update my review accordingly. This is by no means a bad product, but Amazon very well might send a bad apple.
My son has been wanting a pocket racer for a while, so I bought one for his 7th birthday. I bought it a couple months before his birthday, which was my first mistake. When I gave him the car it worked for a couple minutes, then it needed to charge. We charged it all day but when we tried to get the car to go, we just got a red blinking light on the remote. We changed the batteries and tried to troubleshoot with some YouTube videos and nothing worked. So $20 down the drain. When I made the purchase, I didn't realize they only give you 1 month to return it, so I can't even get my money back. Extremely disappointed!
Grandson loves it, but doesn't seem to hold up (he is on his second one). I was there when the first one quit working, so can testify that it wasn't because of abuse. It just quit. So far, second one seems to be still working. Great idea, just needs to be better made. That being said, they are a lot of fun and they are really quick for their size.

Features an auto stop that can be set to stop at the proper pressure, and prevent over filling. Use on tires, toys, sports equipment, bike tires, air mattresses and more. Best of all, air Hawk is compact and can easily be stored in a cabinet, a car, or even a drawer!
I bought this for my husband. He said it was not what they advertised. Would only blow up bicycle tires and very slowly at that! Returned!
This requires numerous recharging for even a small amount of pressure. It comes with a rinky dink cloth storage bag in which it barely fits, This is handy in an emergency when no other air pressure source is available but not for general use.
Received air hawk after viewing on TV commercial. Absolutely a piece of junk. Attempted to check tire pressure on two of my vehicles after charging battery for over three hours. It then quit and I charged another 2 hours. Found out that battery charge lasts for only 15 minutes. Pressure exerted was ridiculous. Small burbs of air from a piston with the diameter of 2"? TV commercial shows tire inflated in a matter of minutes, however obvious that this commercial was 'doctored.' This was touted as a great product by the commercial. Do not by this 'toy' It is misrepresented.
